30 members from all over GTA athletes and Mentors together attended Speaker training session at Holiday Inn Markham on November 12 2011 This workshop marked another mile stone with Athlete Speaker’s Training. Athletes and Mentors from different clubs and communities came together and did a great job Saturday November 12 2011 making commitment to share their Special Olympics story with others. Together athletes and Mentor surely will be able to open many doors for new athlete’s, volunteers and sponsors in each of their community and beyond. These events/speaking engagement will make big difference and open minds and change attitudes as well. Athletes will be contacted by their community, region, provincial office or national office to help with an event or give a speech. It is expected that an athlete will commit to the role of Athlete speaker for a minimum of one year.
